Writing
At Godmanchester Community Academy, we provide our pupils with meaningful opportunities to write across the curriculum. We believe that having a clearly defined purpose considering both the audience and the context is vital to making writing meaningful. Therefore, our teachers work hard to ensure that all writing is purposeful and that the audience and context are relevant.
We understand that to become successful writers, our pupils must acquire a breadth of knowledge, including: phoneme-grapheme-correspondence, spelling, handwriting, grammar, organisational devices, text structures and text types. We teach each of these elements of writing within our daily English lessons following the school's writing progression document (see below). This document includes the objectives outlined in the 2014 National Curriculum.
